We are going to have to wait 3 years for the sequel to the 2018 hit movie Aquaman. Warner Brothers has set a release date of December 16, 2022.
Of course Jason Mamoa is set to star again as now King Arthur of Atlantis aka Aquaman. It will be written by David Leslie Johnson McGoldrick who also co-wrote the first installment. Director James Wan will produce along with Peter Safran.
Currently the 20th highest grossing worldwide movie of all time with $1.1 billion globally, it gave DC Comics its second solid hit after Wonder Woman so a sequel was pretty much a definite.
It is expected William Dafoe, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II and Nicole Kidman all to return for the sequel. With Amber Heard’s current legal issues, she may not return.
Other DCEU movies include Shazam! hitting theaters on April 5, 2019, Birds of Prey on Febrary 7, 2020, and Wonder Woman 1984 on June 5, 2020.
