Conan: The Barbarian series in development at Netflix

It’s been a while since we’ve heard about the Hyborian Age, but it has been announced by Deadline Hollywood that Netflix is developing a series based on Robert E. Howard’s series Conan: The Barbarian.

The exclusive deal between Netflix and Conan Properties International allows exclusive full access to the entire Conan literary library to develop works across television and film, both live-action and animated. The series in development now will be live-action.

The deal will give Netflix a potential franchise that it has been looking to establish for a while. Other properties they are looking at are Roald Dahl’s “The Chronicles of Narnia” books and Millarworld Comic’s properties, especially Jupiter’s Legacy

Conan, introduced in 1932 by Howard in a series of short stories in Weird Tales magazine, has been adapted before in many forms: novels, comic books, television series, movies, video games, toys, and more. Arnold Schwarzenegger is forever linked as the Barbarian after playing him in the 80s in Conan the Barbarian and Conan the Destroyer. Jason Mamoa (Aquaman) took on the roll in 2011 in Conan the Barbarian
