Star Brie Larson posted on Twitter she has wrapped filming on her next MCU appearance, The Marvels.
Brie Larson returns to the role of Carol Danvers in the sequel to Captain Marvel and a continuation of the story of Monica Rambeau’s (Teyonnah Parris) story from WandaVision. The film will also include Iman Vellani as Ms. Marvel from the upcoming Disney+ series, and Samuel L. Jackson returning as Nick Fury.
Already one of the most powerful superheroes in the MCU, Captain Marvel is said to become even stronger in the sequel though no details on how this will occur. She got her powers initially from exposure to on the of the Infinity Stones, but with them gone, her power boost will not be from them.
Monica Rambeau, daughter of Carol’s best friend and a child in Captain Marvel, grew up with some of her powers revealed in WandaVision. Her exposure to Wanda Maximoff’s hex in the series will apparently boost her abilities adding energy absorption, intangibility and enhance perception to the mix. The Marvels will see her developing and understanding her abilities.
Little is known of the plot of The Marvels. Directed by Nia DaCosta (Candyman, Little Woods) from a screenplay by Megan McDonnell (WandaVision), the film is scheduled to be released February 17, 2023.
