Netflix has just announced a slew of cancelations and a few renewals for the upcoming season.
Sci-fi shows that have been canceled or are ending
- 1899 — The big-budget series from the creations of Dark was a mystery sci-fi show canceled after only one season. It centered around Maura Franklin (played by Emily Beecham), a neurologist that finds herself on a ship carrying migrants to a new life in America. As they come across another ship, there is a series of unexplained phenomena that was inspired by real events.
- Inside Job — The animated adult-animation conspiracy comedy was originally renewed for a second season but has now been canceled. The series unfolds in the offices of Cognito Inc., an organization within the shadow government, and follows anti-social tech genius Reagan Ridley (Caplan) who, with her partner Brett Hand (Duke), works to uncover the infinite secrets of the world hidden in the shadows. Despite her optimism, Reagan faces constant hurdles on the way to her dream promotion including her unhinged, conspiracy-mongering father (Slater) and irresponsible coworkers.
- Dead End: Paranormal Park — The animated series ran for 2 seasons, but has been canceled f. The series was praised for its LGBTQ+ representation. It was the story of 2 teens and a talking pug that teamed up to battle demons at a haunted theme park.
- Hot Skull — the Turkish scifi-series was based on the 2016 novel by Afsin Kum. It was a dystopian series about a man who is immune to a bizarre virus and a tyrannical ruling agency that is hunting him down.
- Manifest – ending with season 4 part 2. t centers on the passengers and crew of a commercial airliner who suddenly reappear after being presumed dead for five and a half years. It stars Melissa Roxburgh, Josh Dallas, Athena Karkanis, J. R. Ramirez, Luna Blaise, Jack Messina, Parveen Kaur, Matt Long, Holly Taylor, Daryl Edwards, and Ty Doran.
Sci-fi shows that been renewed
- Wednesday — I think this one was a shoe in for a second season after all the hype the Tim Burton helmed series has received. It stars Jenna Ortega as the titular member of the Adam’s Family along with Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman.
The fate of a number of other series is yet unknown.
