Awards season has been notoriously bad at nominating genre films for anything other than special effects, music, makeup, costumes, or editing. Finally a genre film has received a nomination for an actor.
Angela Bassett has been nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Dealing with the aftermath of the death of her son T’Challa, she has to take on a new enemy while stepping in a Queen of the nation of Wakanda.
Black Panther: Wakanda Forever was also nominated for Original Song, Makeup and Hairstyling, and Costume Design.
