Fall 2012 Genre TV

July 2, 2012 | Filed under: SciFi TV and tagged with: 2012 fall, fall tv shows, tv

New shows mix it up with a few returning science fiction shows this fall. I’ll be updating this list as I find out more about them then just the press releases provided.

666 Park Avenue (ABC)
An innocent Midwestern couple (Dave Annable and Rachael Taylor) get hired as resident managers of an Upper East Side apartment building in New York, with the owner played by Lost‘s Terry O’Quinn. Unbeknownst to them, the residents have all made deals with the Devil to have their desires fulfilled. David Wilcox will adapt Gabrielle Pierce’s book series and executive-produce, alongside Leslie Morgenstein and Gina Girolamo. Vanessa Williams, Mercedes Masohn, Helena Mattsson and Robert Buckley will also star. Erik Palladino will guest-star. Official Site

Arrow (CW) – Premieres: Wednesday, October 10 at 8/7c
With the success of The Avengers, naturally superheroes would be coming to TV. The Arrow is the CW’s attempt to bring The Green Hornet to TV with some updating. Hung‘s Stephen Amell stars. Brothers & Sisters‘ Greg Berlanti and Marc Guggenheim will executive-produce with The Vampire Diaries‘ Andrew Kreisberg. Katie Cassidy, Willa Holland, David Ramsey, Paul Blackthorne, Jamey Sheridan, Colin Donnell and Susanna Thompson will also star. Colin Salmon will recur. Official Site

Beauty & the Beast (CW) – Premieres: Thursday, October 11 a 9/8c
Loosely based on the 1987 CBS series which starred Linda Hamilton & Ron Perlman about an Assistant District Attorney and a noble man-beast who make a connection, the updated love story — with Smallville‘s Kristin Kreuk as the Beauty and Jay Ryan as the Beast — includes a procedural twist. Felicity‘s Jennifer Levin and Brothers & Sisters‘ Sherri Cooper will write and executive-produce. Austin Basis, Nicole Gale Anderson, Max Brown, Brian White and Nina Lisandrello will also star. Official Site

Crossbones (NBC)
From Luther creator Neil Cross, this drama is set in 1715 on the Bahamian island of New Providence, where the notorious pirate Blackbeard leads a nation of thieves and outlaws. To regain control, a trained undercover assassin named Tom Lowe is sent to take down Blackbeard, but Lowe soon becomes an admirer of the swashbuckler’s, charisma, intelligence and political ideals. Walter Parkes and Laurie MacDonald (Gladiator, Men In Black) will executive-produce along with Three Rivers‘ Ted Gold and Cross. Official Site

Elementary (CBS)
A modern take on the cases of Sherlock Holmes in which Sherlock (Eli Stone‘s Jonny Lee Miller) is a recovering addict and consultant for the NYPD. Lucy Liu will portray his Watson. Robert Doherty (Medium) will write and executive-produce with Justified duo Sarah Timberman and Carl Beverly. Aidan Quinn will also star.  I know, not really sci-fi, but semi-fantasy if it goes along the route of the recent Holmes films which undoubtedly has inspired it. Official Site

Grimm (NBC) – Season Premiere: Monday, August 13, 10/9c
Returning for a second season. Inspired by the classic Grimm’s Fairy Tales.Portland homicide Detective Nick Burkhardt (David Giuntoli, “Turn The Beat Around”) discovers he is descended from an elite line of criminal profilers known as “Grimms,” charged with keeping balance between humanity and the mythological creatures of the world. Last Resort (ABC)
A renegade crew of a nuclear submarine, led by Men of a Certain Age‘s Andre Braugher, go on the run after defying an order to fire nuclear missiles. They find sanctuary at a NATO base where they declare themselves the world’s smallest nuclear nation. The Shield‘s Shawn Ryan will executive-produce the pilot, which he wrote with Karl Gajdusek (Dead Like Me). Autumn Reeser, Scott Speedman, Daisy Betts, Sahr Ngaujau, Dichen Lachman, Jessy Schram, Robert Patrick, Camille de Pazzis and Dan Lissing will also star. Official Site

The Neighbors (ABC)
A family (Lenny Venito, Jami Gertz, Isabella Cramp, Clara Mamet and Max Charles) moves into a beautiful, surprisingly affordable gated community in New Jersey only to discover that all the neighbors are literally from another planet. Dan Fogelman (Crazy, Stupid, Love) will write and executive-produce. Simon Templeman, Toks Olagundoye, Tim Jo and Ian Patrick will also star. Official Site

Once Upon a Time (ABC)
Returning for a second season, the epic battle for the future of all worlds, modern and fairytale alike, is about to begin. For good to win, Emma will have to accept her destiny and fight like hell.  Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz, two master storytellers behind Lost and Tron: Legacy, invite everyone to brace themselves for a modern fairytale with thrilling twists and hints of darkness, brimming with wonder and filled with the magic of our most beloved stories. Revolution (NBC) – Premieres: Monday, September 17 at 10/9c
A high-octane action drama that follows a group of characters struggling to survive and reunite with loved ones in a world where all forms of energy have mysteriously ceased to exist. Giancarlo Esposito, Billy Burke, David Lyons, Tim Guinee, Graham Rogers, Tracy Spiridakos, Andrea Roth, JD Pardo, Zak Orth and Anna Lise Philips will star. Official Site

Save Me (NBC)
Anne Heche stars as a woman who starts to believe that she is channeling God after she has an accident. Heche will also serve as a producer on the project.
