The Time Bandits series is on again – this time with Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi at the helm.
Not only with Waititi write and direct the pilot for Apple, but he will also serve as executive producer along with the 1981 film’s writer/director Terry Gilliam. Dan Halsted (People of Earth) completes the production team.
The 1981 film follows 11-year old Kevin on a mystical adventure across time and space and in contact with many famous historical figures.
Apple made a deal for the rights to the film last summer and it’s been in and out of development ever since. With Waititi added, it looks like it is finally going forward.
It is not clear yet where the series will air but Apple’s adaptation will be co-produced by Paramount TV, Anonymous Content, and Media Rights Capital so best guess is it will be on a Paramount-owned service or network.
