The CWs upcoming series based on the 1987 movie, The Lost Boys, seems to be finally moving forward adding Tyler Posey (Teen Wolf) to its cast and gaining director Catherine Hardwicke (Twilight) for its pilot episode.
The series sounds like it will start off identically to the movie with the pilot, written by Heather Mitchell, to be set in the coastal town of Santa Carla. Lucy (Kiele Sanchez) moves back to the town she grew up in following the sudden death of her husband. Her sons, Michael (Poser) and Sam Emerson start meeting the locals, including the local gang of vampires.
There is no mention of the Frog Brothers, the resident Vampire hunters played in the film by Corey Feldman and Corey Haam though a rumor indicates they may become the Frog sisters in the series, possibly giving the newly arrived Michael & Sam some romance to go along with the hunting.
Other cast for the series includes Medalion Rahimi (Still Star-Crossed) and Dakota Shapiro (Valley of the Boom).
Another rumor indicates the vampires of Santa Clara in the series may be mostly female, unlike the Kiefer Sutherland-led band in the original film. No word if any of the original stars of the movie will make cameos in the series.
Heather Mitchell is also serving as executive producer of the new series along with Rob Thomas, Dan Etheridge, Mike Karz and Bill Bindley.
