Character Guide Who is who in the next installment of the Star Wars Saga? A brief guide with some speculation follows).
Achk Med-Beq (Ahmed Best, who also plays Jar Jar Binks)
Amidala (Natalie Portman) - Destined to be the mother of Luke and Leia, Padme is the royal leader of Naboo. Caught up in politics and intrigue, she meets Obi-Wan, Qui-Gon Jinn and a young Anakin when they turn out to be her protectors. Episode 2 will feature the young queen falling in love with the now-grown Anakin Skywalker and a possible love triangle (with Obi-Wan??).
Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) - A child born of prophecy, Anakin was a former slave on Tatooine who became enbroiled in the battle of Naboo and the student of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Growing up, he falls in love with Padme Amidala though is fated to become the ultimate Dark Lord of the Sith, Darth Vader (played by David Prowse/voiced by James Earl Jones in Eps 4-6). Could a love triangle (with Obi-Wan perhaps) be the cause of his turning to the Dark Side of the Force? A quicker route to being a Jedi might be the way he plans to impress and win Amidala’s love.
Bail Organa, Senator (Jimmy Smits)
Barriss Offee (Nalini Krishan)
Beru Whitesun (Bonnie Piesse)
Boba Fett (Daniel Logan)
C-3P0 (Anthony Daniels, who also plays Lt. Faytonni) - Our intrepid Protocol droid from the original saga returns to the fold. Anakin assembled him from scrap parts on Tatooine to help his mother around the house. He and R2-D2 helped tweek Anakin’s Podracer and formed a fast friendship that would take them all over the universe.
Corde (Veronica Sequra)
Dooku, Count (Christopher Lee)
Dorme (Rose Byrne)
Faytonni, Lt. (Anthony Daniels, who also plays C-3PO)
Hermione Bagwa (Susie Porter)
Jango Fett (Temuera Morrison)
Jar Jar Binks (Ahmed Best, who also plays Achk Med-Beq) - Exiled from the city of Otoh Gunga on Naboo, Jar Jar meets up with Obi-Wan and Qui-Gon Jinn in Ep 1 and will continue to be of service (albeit annoying) in Ep. 2. He was the most hated character of Ep 1 but will be back in both 2 and 3..
Jocasta Nu (Alethea McGrath)
Ki-Adi-Mundi (Silas Carson, who also plays Nute Gunray)
Kit Fisto (Zac Jensen)
Luminara Unduli (Mary Oyaya)
Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson) -
Mas Amedda (David Bowers)
Nute Gunray (Silas Carson, who also plays Ki-Adi-Mundi)
Obi-Wan Kenobi (Ewan McGregor) - Obi-Wan was a student of Qui-Gon Jinn who has taken Anakin Skywalker as his pupil to train him in the ways of the Force despite the Jedi councils objections. He later lives as a hermit (played by Sir Alec Guiness in Ep 4) on Tatooine to watch after Luke. With episode 2 to involve a love triangle, my bet is on Obi-Wan being the one to come between Anakin and Amidala....turning Anakin to the Dark Side as a faster way to become a Jedi to try to win Amidala.
Owen Lars (Joel Edgerton)
Orn Free Taa (Matt Rowan)
Palpatine (Ian McDiarmid) - Senator Palpatine of the planet Naboo will become the most powerful Emperor in the galaxy...thanks to political intrigue and maneuvering begun now...and the help of Anakin Skywalker. He rules with an iron fist destroying the old Republic and putting the military in command.
Passel Argente (Stephen Boyle)
Plo Koon (Matt Sloan)
R2-D2 (Kenny Baker) - Padme Naberrie’s astromech droid, R2-D2 joins forces with C-3PO to tweek Anakin’s Podracer for the fateful race that earns him his freedom, the start of a friendship and many adventures.
Saesee Tiin (Jesse Jensen)
Shaak Ti (Orli Shoshan)
Shmi Skywalker (Pernilla August) - Anakin’s mother, a slave on Tatooine, Anakin promised he’d return to her. Apparently it takes 10 years, but he does in Ep 2.
