The sequel to The Matrix promises more action and ground-breaking special effects. Again stars Keanu Reeves as Neo, now a superhuman figure capable of amazing feats. It will probably end with a cliffhanger that leads directly to the 3rd film. Other cast members include Carrie-Anne Moss, Laurence Fishburne, Jada Pinkett-Smith, and Hugo Weaving. The late Aaliyah was to have had a role in the film but her part is being recast.
While the first film focused on the birth of Neo, the second will focus on his life (with the third to focus on death, though it’s not clear whether it’s Neo’s death or the death of the computers that control the world).
Now planned for release Memorial Day (May) 2003
Cast:
- Keanu Reeves (Neo)
- Laurence Fishburne (Morpheus)
- Carrie-Anne Moss (Trinity)
- Jada Pinkett-Smith (Ship Captain)
- Hugo Weaving (Agent Smith)
- Clayton Watson (The Kid)
10/10/01: Australia's TV Week magazine reported that Oz TV star Clayton Watson will appear in both sequels to The Matrix. "My character is called the kid," Watson told the magazine. "He's introduced in the first sequel and follows through to the second."
