What’s New?
Locked out the Spammers & Fixing Formatting
Okay, I think I have finally gotten the spammers trying to post into the sites comments locked out. Man I hate spammer! Still have some 6,000 old spam comments to shift thru and delete (was nearly 9,000!), but at least no new ones can be left!
I’ve also been posting daily and tweaking little things like getting the slider images sized properly and colors adjusted. A website is never actually done, but I feel I am getting closer!

Figuring things out more
Feel like I’m getting more of a handle on WordPress and getting things figured out to the point I should be able to spend more time on updating content then working on the design and settings (yeah!).

Further locked down submission
I will be creating an approval system for those who want to write for Scifispace.com to further protect against spammers. As of now, all new registrations are assigned the role of “Subscriber” meaning you can edit you own profile, but cannot submit articles for approval as I was spending far too much time deleting bogus spam articles instead of writing!
If you want to write for us, the article MUST be about science fiction, fantasy, horror, comics, or another topic related to science fiction ONLY. Articles can have a link to your site in your authors box, but no spam will be allowed.
Register on the site using your full name and email address and short bio, and then email me with a sample article and your registered name. I will review your article and bio and, if approved, change you to a “Contributor” which will let you write articles directly on Scifispace.com. All articles will be submitted for my approval first.

Authorization is now required to submit articles
It’s sad, but thanks to a bunch of spammers trying to submit bogus articles, I will now have to approve new memberships before you can post.

Getting things more together
Slowly getting things more and more together around here as you can see. There are a few things I’m still trying to figure out and get to work the way I want them to, but so far, so good.
The news categories are pretty much all set up as is the layout – a few tweaks to go, but then I’m always tweaking things.
Had issues with the forums so they are temporarily disabled as I try to figure out how to get them working as I want them. I’m also trying to get some membership and social functions working. Give me time!

Your Comments are appreciated – but no spam allowed
Thanks to everyone that has sent emails and tweets about the new Scifispace.com – it’s very much appreciated.
One thing I really wanted to do with this reboot is to make the site more interactive, so please feel free to comment on stories, talk it up in the forums, etc. However, I do moderate comments and have already deleted one from someone trying to sneak in a link to his porn site!
I also will be welcoming several guest authors and columns over the next few weeks, so watch for a ton more updates!
