Loki, Scarlet Witch and others will be getting limited run series on the upcoming Disney streaming service starring the original cast. And unlike the Marvel shows on Netflix, Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige will be heavily involved.
No details yet, but these limited run series will have big budgets for 6-8 episodes allowing a depth of stories for the 2nd string characters the movies haven’t given us. Loki and Scarlet Witch are the first 2 characters mentioned but we can hope for Hawkeye, the Howling Commandos – perhaps even a return of Agent Carter? The core heroes, Captain America, Iron Man, Dr . Strange, Black Panther and Thor will not be included.
The new service, tentatively named Disney Play, will launch late in 2019 and they have promised will be cheaper than Netflix. Other projects rumored to be in development for the service includes a live-action Star Wars show. All Disney movies will eventually be moving to the service as well.
I just might have to add Disney Play to my Roku after all – dang them!
