Doctor Who finally gets a name?
The season 7 finale for Doctor Who airing this week is titled “The Name of the Doctor” and promises “His secret revealed”. Unfortunately for producers, it was revealed a little too soon.
Fans who had pre-ordered the box set were accidentally sent the Blu-Ray discs before the final two episodes of the latest series had aired thanks to an error with the US Distributor. Of course now I wish I had been one of them – though since I don’t have a Blu-Ray player, that didn’t happen.
BBC Brand Manager for Doctor Who, Edward Russell (@edwardrussell) and the BBC Doctor Who official account (@bbcdoctorwho) tweeted, urging people not to share spoilers online and ruin it for people who haven’t seen the episodes yet.
Naturally that wasn’t heeded and someone hacked the Doctor Who Wikipedia page with spoilers posted all over it. Wikipedia has taken down the spoilers and is keeping watch to make sure it is not hacked again, though fans who don’t want to know should probably avoid it and other spoiler sites until after the episode airs on Saturday, May 18.
