Do we really need another Dracula movie?

July 4, 2014 | Filed under: Movie News and tagged with: charles dance, dominic cooper, dracula, dracula untold, luke evans, samantha barks, sarah cadon, vampire movies

Okay, so I admit I am a fan of the vampire genre and Bram Stoker’s original novel scared the you know what out of me when I first read it in 1981 (I remember the year as we had recently moved to Florida and my bedroom was on the opposite side of the house with nothing but orange groves behind us. I swear there was something scratching at my window screens while I was reading the novel!).

I also have to admit the trailer for Dracula Untold looks pretty interesting (watch it below) not to mention Luke Evans (Fast & Furious 6, Immortals) makes a dang fine looking Dracula, but I have to wonder if we really need another Dracula movie.

The trailer story line we see reminds me of Bram Stoker’s Dracula with the warrior prince and his beloved wife with shades of The Mummy and controlling the natural world against his enemies.

With the recent Dracula series on TV canceled after one season, Vampire Diaries and The Originals, and True Blood, is it time to put Dracula back in the grave for a while?

What do you think? Comment below.

Dracula Untold stars Luke Evans (Fast & Furious 6, Immortals), Charles Dance (Game of Thrones), Sarah Gadon (World Without End) , Dominic Cooper (Captain America: The First Avenger) and Samantha Barks (Les Miserables).   It hits theaters on October 17, 2014 in time for Halloween.
