The chairman of Paramount Pictures announced April 25 at it’s CinemaCon presentation that 2 Star Trek movies are currently in development with studio partner Skydance, JJ Abrams company.
This confirms statements by Trek actors Zachary Quinto and Simon Pegg earlier this year that future Trek movies were in the works.
While no details were given, it is assumed one is the Quentin Tarantino project being written by Mark L. Smith that has been announced by Tarantino. The other might be a film which would include Chris Hemsworth as George Kirk, Jim’s father, making it a prequel to the first film or perhaps a current film with a significant flashback sequence. Hemsworth announced several months ago he was going to return to Trek.
Of course these 2 movies are only in development and might change or even be dropped if the scripts are not greenlit by the studios.
