Author Charlaine Harris, who created the popular Sookie Stackhouse series of books, the basis for the hit HBO series True Blood, is ending the series with – fittingly enough – book number 13.
The 61 year old author says she has run out of fresh story lines and even she has problems keeping the mythos she created straight – a world filled with vampires, werewolves, shape-shifters, demons and more fighting her telepathic waitress Sookie. The things that used to excite her, like revealing new supernatural creatures, started to feel stale.
The series has sold more the 24 million copies worldwide with a ton of merchandise from graphic novels to bottles of fake-blood beverage True Blood.
The 13th book and final book, “Dead Ever After,” hit bookstores May 7.
